Thanks to Mary Faith Messenger for organizing our end of the season, J.V. and Varisty soccer banquet held on Sunday, November 18th at the Beeches. Thanks also to Dee Welch and Chuck Messenger for their assistance, Bret Duchesneau for his hard work on the D.V.D. and to Lou DeAngelis for his help with our programs and photos.      
       
Many thanks to everyone that helped to make October 18th's Senior Night Ceremony a memorable occasion. Special thanks to Barb Duchesneau for her help, hard work and organization of the evening. Thanks also to Judy Cortese,  Mary McCormick, Michelle Jensen and Mr. Jensen for their assistance. Thanks to our decorators: Hilary Baker, Julie Baker, Bonnie Charney, Hannah Charney, Emma Duchesneau & Stacey Foley. Thanks to:  the J.V. team for their senior posters, to the varsity team readers, poster makers and team room decorators,  to Mr. Lomazzo for the  photo C.D.,  to Dee & Dave Welch & Lou DeAngelis for their work on the senior program, to Lou DeAngelis & Coach Spindler for the senior photo posters and to Bret Duchesneau & Gary Fahey for their assistance in the announcer's booth. The 9th Annual Joe Dundon Memorial Tournament….Special thanks goes out to the many dedicated, hard-working volunteers (coaches, parents, players and soccer enthusiasts) that helped out this weekend to help make our tournament a success. Whether you were a coach, a player that came out to watch the visitor's games, a concession helper, ball person, 50/50 raffle seller, clock keeper, announcer, photo person, program designer, t-shirt orderer/delivery person, ad solicitor or a stat keeper (to name just a few), we needed all of you...thanks for being there!

(11/27/07) - Congratulations to the Varsity Team's N.Y.S.P.H.S.A.A. Scholar Athletes, with a combined scholastic team average of 94.155. Team members recognized for this award  were: Ashley Armstrong, Julianna VanMeter, Molly Messenger, Erica Foley, Jenna Quattrini, Vanessa Tibbits, Hilary Baker, Liz Aiello, Brenna Ricci, Hannah Charney, Carley Young and Erin Thomas.  Congratulations!

Varsity Game News.…On Thursday, October 18th, RFA's senior varsity soccer players and their parents were recognized at a ceremony during half-time of the Nottingham game. A reception was held for players, family members & friends following the game. Recognized this year were seniors: Liz Aiello, Ashley Armstrong, Mary DiMaggio, Jenna Quattrini, Brenna Ricci, Vanessa Tibbits, Julianna VanMeter and Carley Young. Congratulations seniors, best wishes from all of us!

(11/18/07) - The Junior Varsity team held their end of the season banquet at The Beeches on Sunday, November 18th.  The following J.V. players  were recognized at the banquet for their achievements: Rachel Reid - Team Scholar Athlete and Most Valuable Offense;  Alyssa McLean - Team Spirit; Taylor Holst - Most Improved Defense; Korynn Powonsky - Most Improved Offense; Shelli Ann Jensen - Most Valuable Defense;  Alyssa Torres - Most Valuable Player and Danielle Pauba - Coach's Award.  Congratulations to all the J.V. players!    
     
J.V. Game News...On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 20th, the RFA Girls JV Soccer team defeated Central Square by a score of 1-0 at Joy in their last game of the season. The score at halftime was 0-0. Scoring the winning goal was Leigh Shoemaker 1-0, assisted by Amanda Ingham 0-1. Karina Swanson made 6 saves. RFA's final record is 9-8-1.     
     
J.V. Game News...On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 18th, the RFA Girls JV Soccer team defeated Nottingham 7-1 at the stadium. The score at halftime was 3-1. Leading the scoring was Leigh Shoemaker 1-3, Alyssa Torres 1-1, Brittany Bartlett 1-1, Danielle Pauba 1-0, Rachel Reid 1-0, Chelsea Holz 1-0 and Tricia Metzger 1-0.  Adding assists were Kelsey Witzigman and Taylor Holst. Karina Swanson and Shelli Jensen combined to make 6 saves.  RFA's record is now 8-8-1 and will play their last game against Central Square at Joy on Saturday, Oct. 20th.    
     
J.V. Game News...On Tuesday, October 16th, the RFA Girls JV Soccer team defeated by a score of Henninger 4-1 at Henninger. The score at halftime was 2-0 Rome. Leading the scoring was Danielle Pauba 1-1, Leigh Shoemaker 1-1, Rachel Reid 1-0 and Stacy Spindler 1-0. Adding an assist was Shelli Jensen 0-1. Karina Swanson and Tricia Metzger combined to make 6 saves. RFA's record is now 7-8-1 and will play Nottingham at the stadium on Thursday.    
     
J.V. Game News...On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 11th,  the RFA JV Soccer Team was defeated 5-0 by CNS.. The game was played @CNS Middle School. The score at halftime was 3-0. Karina Swanson made 20 saves. The next game is Tuesday @ Henninger.  RFA's record is now 6-8-1.

Game News....On Wednesday afternoon, October 10th, the RFA Girls JV Soccer team defeated visiting Corcoran at Joy School by a score of 4-1 (This was a make-up game from Tuesday's weather postponement).  The score at halftime was 2-1 Rome.  Leading the scoring was Danielle Pauba 1-1, Alyssa Torres 1-1, Shelli Jensen 1-0 and Rachel Reid 1-0.  Adding assists were Amanda Ingham 0-1, and Alyssa McLean 0-1.  Karina Swanson made 1 save.  RFA's record is now 6-7-1 and will play at CNS on Thursday, Oct. 11th..    
     
J.V. Game News...On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 4th,  the RFA JV Soccer Team was defeated 6-1 by West Genesee.  The game was played @West Genesee High School.  The score at halftime was 4-0.  Kristen Metzger 1-0 scored the RFA goal unassisted.  Karina Swanson made 15 saves.  The next game is next Saturday @ the stadium in the Joe Dundon Tournament.  RFA will face Whitesboro @5:00.  RFA's record is now 4-6-1.    
     
J.V. Game News...On Tuesday, Oct. 2nd, the RFA JV Soccer Team was defeated 1-0 by Auburn. The game was played at the Stadium. The score at halftime was 1-0. Karina Swanson made 10 saves. The next game is Thursday @ West Genesee. RFA's record is now 4-5-1.    
     
J.V. Game News...On Saturday. Sept. 29th, the RFA JV Soccer Team was defeated 3-0 by Liverpool Blue. The game was played at John Joy. The score at halftime was 2-0. Karina Swanson made 15 saves. The next game is Tues., Oct. 2nd vs Auburn @ the Stadium. RFA's record is now 4-4-1.    
     
J.V. Game News...On Thursday, Sept. 27th, the RFA JV Soccer Team was defeated 4-3 by F-M. The game was played at F-M. The score at halftime was 3-2. Alyssa Torres 1-1, Daniel Pauba 1-0, and Brittany Bartlett 1-0 scored RFA's goals. Koryann Powonsky 0-1 and Leigh Shoemaker 0-1 provided assists. Karina Swanson and Alyssa McLean combined to make 20 saves. The next game is Saturday versus Liverpool at Joy. RFA's record is now 4-3-1.     
     
J.V. Game News...On Wednesday, Sept. 19th, the RFA JV Soccer Team was defeated 11-1 by Baldwinsville. The game was played at Joy. The score at halftime was 4-1. Rachel Reid 1-0 scored RFA's goal assisted by Tricia Metzger. Karina Swanson and Alyssa McLean combined to make 16 saves. The next game is next Thurs., Sept. 27th,  at F-M. RFA's record is now 4-2-1.    
     
J.V. Game News...On Tuesday, Sept. 18th,  the RFA Girls JV Soccer team defeated Oswego 6-5.  The score at halftime was 3-2 Oswego.  Twice the JV's came back from behind (3-2 and 5-3) to win the game.  Leading the scoring was Leigh Shoemaker 2-0, Rachel Reid 2-0, Danielle Pauba 1-1, and Alyssa Torres 1-1.  Adding a assist were Amanda Ingham 0-1, Morgan Smith 0-1 and Brittany Bartlett 0-1.  Alyssa McLean and Karina Swanson combined to make 7 saves.  RFA's record is now 4-1-1 and will play at Baldwinsville at Joy on Wednesday, Sept. 20th.

The Freshman team held their end of the season banquet in October at Teddy's. Players individually recognized for their achievements were: Melanie Carmen - Most Improved Player; Rachael Hojnacki - Black-Orange Spirit Award; Nicole Vanderjagt - Golden Boot; and Halie Schoff - Sportsmanship Award. Congratulations to the Freshman team on a great season!     
     
More Freshman News>>>>On Tuesday, October 23rd, the RFA Girl's Freshmen soccer team hosted Fayetteville-Manlius.   Nicole Vanderjagt scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 in the first half.  The two teams continued play into overtime.  A controversial goal was scored by Fayetteville-Manlius when the clock ran out, final score FM winning 2-1.  RFA wraps up the season at Franklyn Field on Wednesday afternoon against the visiting West Genny Wildcats.      
     
Freshman Game News...The RFA Freshmen Girl's soccer team was defeated by CNS 3-1 on Friday, October 19th..   Nicole Vanderjagt scored off of a corner kick taken by Courtney Wheeler.  RFA continues play next Tuesday, Oct. 23rd at Franklyn Field against Fayetteville-Manlius.       
     
Freshman Game News...On Tuesday, Oct. 16th, the Girl's Freshmen soccer team was beaten by East-Syracuse Minoa by a score of 2-1. Jenna Gillen scored to give RFA an early 1-0 lead.  Amber Geary & Rachael Noone contributed in goal for RFA.  Rome continues play at Franklyn Field on Friday (Oct. 19th) against Cicero-North Syracuse.       
       
Freshman Game News...The RFA Freshmen Girl's soccer team was defeated by Baldwinsville 2-1 on Monday, Oct. 15th. Baldwinsville scored twice in the 3rd quarter before Courtney Wheeler capitalized on a direct kick to cut the lead to 2-1.  Rachael Noone & Amber Geary contributed in goal for Rome.   RFA continues play at Franklyn Field on Tuesday, Oct. 16th against East Syracuse-Minoa.      
     
Freshman Game News...On Wednesday, Oct. 10th, the RFA Girl's Freshmen soccer team extended their unbeaten streak with a 1-1 tie at West Genesee.   RFA trailed 1-0 at halftime, only to pull even with a goal scored by Jenna Gillen in the second half.  Amber Geary & Rachael Noone contributed in goal for RFA.  RFA continues play at Franklyn Field next Monday, Oct. 15th, against Baldwinsville.    
     
Freshman Game News...The RFA Freshmen Girl's soccer team won its third straight game on Friday, Oct. 5th,  at Fayetteville-Manlius by a score of 2 -1.  RFA trailed 1-0 at halftime before equalizing on a penalty shot scored by Nicole Vanderjagt in the third quarter.  Courtney Wheeler put home the game winner in the fourth quarter to lock up the victory.  Rachael Noone & Amber Geary contributed in goal for Rome.  RFA travels to West Genesee next Wednesday.      
     
Freshman Game News...The RFA Girl's Freshmen soccer team defeated Cicero North Syracuse on Monday, Oct. 1st. by a score of 2-1.   Courtney Wheeler scored on a direct kick in the opening minutes.  CNS quickly equalized at 1-1.  Nicole Vanderjagt scored the game winning goal in the 4th quarter to clinch the victory for RFA.  Rachael Noone & Amber Geary contributed with solid play in goal for RFA.  RFA continues play Friday, Oct. 5th, at Fayetteville-Manlius.     
     
Freshman Game News...The RFA Girl's Freshmen soccer team defeated host ESM 2 -1, on Thurs., Sept. 27th.  RFA trailed 1-0 before equalizing on a Lindsay Nowicki goal in the fourth quarter.  Nicole Vanderjagt scored the game winning goal for RFA in the closing minutes.  Assists were contributed from Courtney Wheeler and Jenna Gillen.  Amber Geary and Rachael Noone gave solid efforts in goal for RFA.  Play continues on Monday (Oct. 1st) at Cicero-North Syracuse.     
     
Freshman Game News...The RFA Girl's Freshmen soccer team was defeated by Baldwinsville on Tues., Sept. 25th by a score of 6 to 1.  Nicole Vanderjagt scored for Rome in the second half.  Courtney Wheeler was credited with the assist.  RFA continues the season with a game at East Syracuse-Minoa on Thurs., Sept. 27th.     
     
Freshman Game News...The RFA Girl's Freshmen Soccer team suffered a defeat to West Genesee on Friday, Sept. 21st at Frankyln Field.  Halie Schoff scored off of a Courtney Wheeler corner kick to give Rome a 1-0 in the first half.  West Genesee scored twice in the third quarter to secure a 4-1 victory.  RFA now travels to the Syracuse region for five consecutive road games.       
     
Freshman Game News...The Rome Free Academy Girl's Freshmen soccer team dropped its first game of the season to Fayetteville-Manlius on Monday, Sept. 17th.  Fayetteville-Manlius scored a late goal to secure a 2-0 victory over RFA.  The Girl's team will resume play this Friday, Sept. 21st  at Franklyn Field in Rome.

The Black Modified team celebrated their end of the season banquet at Strough. The following players were recognized: Mia Hernandez - Best Offense; Samantha Lopez - Best Defense; Anna Morris - Most Improved Player; Olga Russell - Most Valuable Player and Alicia Wittmann - Coaches Award. Also recognized for perfect attendance were: Lindsey Bartlett, Lauren Felice, Jessie Flaim, Jessica Gallagher & Emily Closinski.

The Orange Modified team celebrated their end of the season banquet and recognized the following players for their accomplishments:  Jenn Simmons - Most Improved; Jordan General - Most Outstanding Offense; Hannah Wasco - Most Outstanding Defense; Kayli Smith - Most Valuable Player and Tanner Harding - Coaches Award.    
     
Orange Game NewsOn Tues., Oct. 2nd,  Rome Orange lost to visiting V.V.S. by a score of  3-1. The lone goal was scored by Krista Anken and assisted by Jordan General. Saves 7, by Allessandra Johnson.  Our record is now 2-2-1.
   
     
Orange Game News…On Saturday, Sept. 22nd, Modified Orange tied host Clinton by a score of 1-1. Rome's lone goal was scored by Jordan General, assisted by Lauren Popovich and Krista Anken. Hannah Wasco had 8 saves in net. Next game is Sept. 27th at JFK.
