The cost of the camp, which runs from Monday, July 27th to Friday, July 31st (9am-4pm) at the RFA Stadium Turf, is discounted to $175 per player if you sign-up by June 14th. 11-23-08 - The Varsity and Junior Varsity teams held their end of the season banquet at the Beeches on Sunday, Nov. 23rd. Players were recognized and acknowledged for their team participation. 10-30-08 - Coach Downs and the Freshman team celebrated the end of their 2008 season with a players' banquet at Teddys on Thursday, October 30th. The Freshman players receiving individual awards were: Olga Russell - Sportsmanship Award, Abby Gray - Most Improved Player Award, Lauren Popovich - Black & Orange Spirit Award and Kayli Smith - Golden Boot Award (Scoring Leader).

10-22-08 - Coach Bartlett, Coach Howard and the Modified team celebrated the end of their 2008 season with a players' pizza party at Strough on Wednesday, October 22nd. The following modified players were individually recognized for their accomplishments: Marisa Castro - The Hustle Award, Josephine Emmanuele - Best Defense, Sheila Olney - Best Offense & Tiffany O'Connor - Most Improved. The following players received awards for perfect attendance: Nyaishia Bennett, Josephine Emmanuele, Linda Martin, Carly McCoy, Anna Morris, Amanda Nouvong, Tiffany O'Connor, Sheila Olney, Gianna Pasqualetti & Monica Taylor. 10/22/08 - The Rome Free Academy Lady Knights lost to Auburn in a close match in a 1st round AA girls soccer sectional match-up hosted at RFA Stadium. The half time score was 0-0. The final was 2-1 Auburn. Jackie Welch scored RFA's goal with assists from Erin Thomas and Molly Messenger. Rome's keeper Emma Duchesneau had 10 saves in the net. Auburn's goals were scored by Sarah Green and Brittany Rabuano. Marissa Slayton and Laura Taylor had assists. Ginny Porten, Auburn's keeper, had 12 saves. Auburn moves on to take on CBA on Saturday the AA #2 seed. The RFA Lady Kngihts finish their season 10-7-2. - Coach Spindler

10/17/08 - The Rome Free Academy Lady Knights finished out their regular season with a 1-0 double overtime league win on the road against the Nottingham Bull Dogs. The game was all knotted up at the end of regulation 0-0, despite a solid dominating attack by the Lady Knights. The Nottingham goal keeper, Emily Daniels, did a great job to keep the game close, with 19 saves on the night. The game was peppered with aggressive play and Rome finally broke through at 5:14 in the 2nd OT period to knock in what proved to be the game winning goal by Sarah Southwell from Leigh Shoemaker. Leigh won the ball in the corner of Nottingham's end and served it back to Sarah from just outside the 18 yard box and nailed a shot passed Daniel's hands into the upper 90 of the far post. Rome's defense was outstanding throughout and contributed to allow just 2 shots on Rome's keeper Emma Duchesneau, who was credited with 2 saves. Karina Swanson also went in goal for Rome and contributed with Duchesneau in earning Rome's 9th shutout of the season.. The Lady Knights finished the regular season with a 10-6-2 overall and 6-4-2 in the league, which set a new school record on both accounts.

Post season play begins next week. The seeding meeting will be held this Sunday (10/19) at Jamesville-Dewitt where the seeding assignments and tournament play will be decided. - Coach Spindler

10/14/08 - The Rome Free Academy Lady Knights defeated Henninger at home on Senior Night by the score of 7-0. The half-time score was 2-0. Rome's offense really kicked into full gear in the second half. Erin Thomas led the Knights with 2 goals and 2 assists and Jackie Welch followed with 1 goal and 2 assists. Sarah Southwell also chipped in 1 goal and had 1 assist. Emma Duchesneau had 9 saves in the net for Rome and Karina Swanson had 4 saves. Duchesneau earned her 8th shut-out of the season. Rome out shot the Henninger Black Knights 24 to 14. Rome improves to 5-4-2 in the league and 9-6-2 overall. The Lady Knights finish out their regular season on the road at Nottingham on Thursday. - Coach Spindler

10/12/08 - The RFA Lady Knights were crowned Tournament Champions defeating Oneida 1-0 in the 10th Annual Joe Dundon Memorial Tournament Championship Game. Danielle Pauba scored the winning goal with an assist from Jackie Welch with 3:31 in the first half. Rome out shot Oneida 17 to 6. Oneida's keeper Beth Kann had 16 saves to keep the score close. Rome's keeper Emma Duchesneau earned her 7th shut-out of the year and had 7 saves. The Lady Knights celebrate "Senior Night" on Tuesday, October 14th at 7 p.m. at the stadium when they take on the Henninger Black Knights in the CNYCL league match-up. RFA has qualified for Sectionals and are looking to improve their seeding position with 2 games remaining in the regular season. - Coach Spindler

10-11-08 - The RFA Lady Knights won Saturday night's match-up in the first round of the 10th Annual Joe Dundon Memorial Tournament by defeating Ilion 7-0. The outstanding defensive effort was Rome's 6th shut-out of the season. Scoring for Rome were: Sarah Southwell (2-0), Leigh Shoemaker (1-4), Erin Thomas (1-1), Maria Tomassi (1-1), Rachel Reid (1-0), Kaitlin Fahey (1-0) and Erica Foley (0-1). Emma Duchesneau had 4 saves in net for the evening. Varsity plays next in the Championship game Sunday night at 6 p.m. against Oneida.

10/9/08 - RFA's Lady Knights battled at home to a 1-1 tie with league foe, Cicero-North Syracuse. C-NS got on the board first at 38:07 in the first half off a shot from outside the 18 by Mariah Centolella. Rome's Sarah Southwell answered with the equalizer off an assist from Hilary Baker at 22:51. The first half ended 1-1. Neither team would bend for the next 60 minutes with Rome out shooting C-NS 14 shots to 5. Rome's keeper Emma Duchesneau had 9 saves in the net. C-NS's keeper Chelsea Dunay had 18 saves on the night. The Lady Knight's defense was outstanding. Rome's record moves to 6-6-2 overall and 4-4-2 in the league. - Coach Spindler

10-7-08 - The RFA Lady Knights dominated The Corcoran Cougars on the road in a CNYCL league match up 9-0 with 43 shots on goal. Rome was lead offensively by Erin Thomas and Sarah Southwell with 2 goals and 1 assist each. Leigh Shoemaker knocked in 1 goal and 2 assists and Molly Messenger, Alyssa Torres, Brittany Bartlett and Amanda Ingham each added 1 goal in the rout. Danielle Pauba and Emma Duchesneau contributed with 1 assist. In the net for RFA, were Emma Duchesneau with 3 saves and Karina Swanson with 1 save. Rome's defense was solid allowing just 6 shots by Corcoran. RFA improves to 6-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the league. Rome hosts C-NS Thursday at home for a 7 p.m. start. - Coach Spindler

10-2-08 - The Rome Free Academy Lady Knights took on the West Genesee Wildcats at home in a league game and dominated them on offense and defense the entire night. Erin Thomas knocked in Rome's goal from inside the 18 into the upper 90 off an oustanding pass from Kaitlin Fahey with 11:03 left to play in the first half. Rome had 19 shots on goal and West Genny had 13. Rome's defense once again was outstanding and stepped up big to deny West Genny scoring opportunities. Everyone from defense to mids to forwards played hard on defense and offense. Rome's keeper, Emma Duchesneau, had 14 saves in net and was key to RFA's success. This was a HUGE win for RFA, as they upped their record to 5-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the league. The Lady Knights travel to Corcoran next Tuesday for a 4:30 start. - Coach Spindler

9-30-08 - The RFA Lady Knights soccer team dropped a close league game on the road to Auburn. The score through 60 minutes of play was 0-0. Auburn scored their first goal at 20:45 in the 2nd half and their secon goal at 9:12. Rome was unable to convert a PK at 3:25, as it just hit the cross bar. The final score was 2-0 Auburn. Emma Duchesneau had 7 saves in the net for Rome. Rome hosts West Genesee Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the stadium for Fan Appreciation Night. Rome's record is 4-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the league. - Coach Spindler

9/27/08 - The RFA Lady Knights soccer team battled hard on the road in heavy rain against Liverpool on Saturday. The score was 0-0 until the 9th minute of the first half when Liverpool knocked in the go ahead goal. The first half ended 1-0. Liverpool put in their second goal with a shot from the corner of the 18 just under the crossbar with 10 minutes left in the contest to put the Warriors up 2-0. Two minutes later Liverpool was awarded a PK which they converted and the game ended 3-0. Emma Duchesneau was outstanding in the goal for RFA with 15 saves. RFA's record is now 4-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the league. The Lady Knights travel to Auburn on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. start. - Coach Spindler

9-26-08 - The RFA Lady Knights turned back the F-M Hornets 3-2 in a league contest. This was an amazing game for the Lady Knights who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes of the first half. F-M did not fold and in the first 12 minutes of the second half, they got back 2 of the 3 goals to make it 3-2. Rome stepped it up big on defense the entire evening, but really did an outstanding job in the second half to keep F-M at bay. Leading RFA offensively were: Erin Thomas (1-1), Jackie Welch (1-0), Danielle Pauba (1-0), Sarah Southwell (0-1) and Hannah Charney (0-1). Rome's Keeper Emma Duchesneau was outstanding in the goal with 14 saves. Rome improves to 4-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the league. The Lady Knights travel to Liverpool on Saturday for a game at 11:00 a.m.. - Coach Spindler

9/18/08 - The RFA Lady Knights soccer team suffered a set back with a 12-0 loss to top ranked Baldwinsville. The halftime score was 7-0. J.V. goalie Rachel Noone helped out the Varsity team this game and made 24 saves in net for Rome. Rome dropped to 3-3-1 overall on the season and 1-1-1 in the league. The Lady Knights are back in action Saturday in Central Square.

9/16/08 - Congratulations to Junior player Hilary Baker on being awarded News Channel 2's Athlete of the Week. Hilary's nomination was in recognition of scoring 7 goals and 1 assist in the Proctor and Nottingham games. Hilary was presented with an engraved plaque in honor of the occasion. Watch Channel 2 News on Friday, Sept. 19th @ 11:00 p.m. for interviews with Hilary and Coach Spindler. Nice job Hilary!

(9-16-08) - The Rome Free Academy Lady Knights played to a scoreless tie in double overtime against the visiting Oswego Buccaneers. Rome moves to 3-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the league. Emma Duchesneau had 9 saves in the goal for Rome. Oswego game highlights were aired Tuesday night on Channel 2 News @ 11.

(9-13-08) - The Rome Free Academy Girls Varsity Soccer Team improved to 3-2 on the season with a commanding shutout win over visiting Nottingham 5-0. Hilary Baker led the Lady Knights with 2 goals. Rachel Reid, Molly Messenger and Jessica Lomazzo each added a goal in the rout. Leigh Shoemaker, Sarah Southwell, Jackie Welch and Kaitlin Fahey each had an assist in the strong effort. The defensive unit led by Erica Foley, Erin Thomas, Hannah Charney and Shelli Jensen continued to do an outstanding job for us. Emma Duchesneau had 2 saves in the goal for Rome. Karina Swanson also defended the goal for Rome, but did not have any saves on the day. - Caoch Spindler

(9-9-08) - The RFA Lady Knights soccer team rebounded strong from a loss to Baldwinsville with a decisive win tonight over Proctor 11-0, to improve their overall record to 2-2. Hilary Baker led the team offensively with an unprecedented 5 goals and 1 assist. The rest of the scoring was as follows: Jackie Welch 2-0, Sarah Southwell 2-0, Molly Messenger 1-1 and Shelli Jensen 1-0. Assisting were: Kaitlin Fahey 0-3, Leigh Shoemaker 0-2, Erin Thomas 0-2, Jessica Lomazzo 0-1 and Alyssa Torres 0-1. Emma Duchesneau earned the shutout with 4 saves in net. Karina Swanson relieved Emma in goal, but did not record any saves. Rome meets Nottingham at home on Saturday at noon. - Coach Spindler

(9/3/08) - The RFA Girls Varsity Soccer team dropped their home opener to visiting Baldwinsville 5-0. The half-time score was 4-0. Emma Duchesneau has 12 saves for Rome and Karina Swanson had one save. The loss drops Rome's record to 1-2. The Lady Knights are back in action on Tuesday against Proctor at 7 p.m. at RFA Stadium.

10-17-08 - The RFA Girls JV Soccer Team concluded it's season last night with a convincing 7-1 win over host Nottingham (half-time score was 3-1). Scoring for Rome in the Nottingham game were: Courtney Wheeler (2-0), Jenna Gillen (2-2), Halie Schoff (1-1), Natalie Streifert (1-1), Kelsey Witzigman (1-0), Megan O'Connell (0-2), Nicole Vangerjagt (0-1). Rachel Noone was credited with 4 saves in net. The team complied 9 shutouts throughout the year behind the solid goalkeeping of Rachel Noone and Hannah Wasco.

10-14-08 - The RFA JV's hosted the visiting Henninger Black Knights on Tuesday, winning the Battle of the Black Knights with a 4-0 shut-out! The half-time score was 0-0. Scoring for Rome were: Lindsay Nowicki (1-3), Courtney Wheeler (1-0), Halie Schoff (1-0), Nicole Vanderjagt (1-0), Jenna Gillen (0-2) and Megan O'Connell (0-2). There were no saves in net. The JV's last game of the season is Thursday @ Nottingham.

10-12-08 - RFA JV Girls won the 10th Annual Joe Dundon Memorial Tournament defeating Ilion in the first round 9-0 and beating Oneida in a shootout 3-1. The win makes the RFA JV team the first team in the school's history (JV or Varsity Girls) to win 2 tournaments in the same year. The team also won the Home Labor Day Tournament by defeating Cortland 1-0 in the opening game and then New Hartford 1-0 in double overtime to win the championship there. The team played stellar defense throughout the tournament - defense consisted of Rachael Hojnacki, Natalie Streifert, Caitlyn Gallagher and Morgann Smith. Players of the game were: Jenna Gillen - Selected by Ilion in Game 1 and Rachael Hojnacki - selected by Oneida in Game 2. Coaches Bill Tagliaferri and Scott Hall are very pleased with the way the team played throughout the weekend and contribute the historical win to the hard work and "refuse to lose" mentality of the team. - Coach Tag

10-11-08 - RFA's JV team defeated Ilion 9-0 in an opening round shut-out of the 10th Annual Joe Dundon Memorial Tournament. Rachel Noone had two saves in net in Saturday's oustanding defensive effort. Scoring for the Rome team were: Morgann Smith (1-0), Lindsay Nowicki (3-3), Courtney Wheeler (0-1), Nicole Vanderjagt (1-0), Natalie Streifert (0-1), Hannah Wasco (1-0), Caitlyn Gallagher (0-1), Jenna Gillen (2-0), Mia Hernandez (0-2) and Mary Resnach (1-0).

10-9-08 - RFA's JV Team suffered a disappointing loss to the visiting Cicero-North Syracuse North Stars in Thursday's match-up at Joy Elementary by a score of 4-2 (half time score was tied at 1-1). Scoring for Rome was Mia Hernandez off an assist from Megan O'Connell and Lindsay Nowicki off an assist from Mia Hernandez. Rachel Noone had 5 saves in goal. Next game is Saturday at the stadium versus Ilion in the 10th Annual Joe Dundon Tournament.

10-2-08 - The JV Lady Knights tied the visiting West Genny Wildcats at home on Thursday by a score of 1-1 (the half time score was 0-1). Scoring for Rome unassisted was Jenna Gillen. Rachel Noone had 7 saves in net. JV's over all record is 6-5-1, next game is away on Tuesday against the Corcoran Cougars @ 4:30.

9-30-08 - RFA JV's lost a close battle in Tuesday's rainy game at Auburn by score of 1-0 (the half time score was 0-0). Rachel Noone had 11 saves in net. Next game is home on Thursday against West Genesee. JV's overall record is 6-5.

9/25/08 - The JV team lost in Thursday's match-up against the difficult F-M Hornets by a score of 6-0. Half time score was 0-2. Rachel Noone had 17 saves in goal and Hannah Wasco had 3 saves. JV's look to regain ground in Saturday's game against Liverpool.

9-20-08 - JV Lady Knights beat the Central Square Redhawks by a score of 1-0 on Saturday, with a halftime score of 0-0. Scoring for Rome was Kelsey Witzigman off an assist from Mia Hernandez. Hannah Wasco had 4 saves in net. Overall record is 6-2. Next game is Thursday, Sept. 25th against F-M @ the Base Gym.

9/18/08 - The JV team suffered a disappointing loss on the road against a Baldwinsville. Baldwinsville won the match-up by a score of 8-1. Scoring for Rome was Natalie Streifert (1-0) and Halie Schoff (0-1). Hannah Wasco had 20 saves in net. The JV team's record is (5-2). Next game is Saturday at Central Square.

9/16/08 - RFA JV girls improved their overall record to 5-1 with a 2-0 shutout over the visiting Oswego Bucaneers (half time score was 0-0). Scoring for the JV girls were: Lindsay Nowicki (1-0), Morgann Smith (0-1), Halie Schoff (1-0) and Mia Hernandez (0-1). The JV's had an outstanding defensive effort. Rachel Noone had 11 saves in net. Next game is Thursday at Baldwinsville @ 5:00.

9/9/08 - The RFA JV team improved their record to 3-1, with a 7-1 win over the visiting Proctor team at the Base Gym on Tuesday afternoon (half time score was RFA 3-1). An outstanding defensive effort by the Lady Knights was matched by scoring and assisting from the following Lady Knights: Lindsay Nowicki (1-0), Natalie Streifert (2-0), Halie Schoff (1-0), Megan O'Connell (1-0), Mia Hernandez (2-0), Kelsey Witzigman (0-1) and Courtney Wheeler (0-1). Hannah Wasco had 1 save in net. Next game for the JV team is Saturday (9/13/08) against Nottingham at the Base Gym.

10-23-08 - The RFA Girls Freshmen soccer team won their last game on Thursday, beating Ciccero-N. Syracuse 2-1. Alexis Marineau scored both goals for RFA. Assists were provided by Alessandra Johnson and Alicia Wittman. Jessica Gallagher and Lindsey Bartlett combined to preserve the victory in goal for Rome. The Freshmen girls finished the season 5-3-3 overall. - Coach Downs.

10-21-08 - The RFA Girls Freshman soccer team played Fayetteville-Manlius to a scoreless draw on Tuesday. Jessica Gallagher had seven saves and Lindsey Bartlett combined in goal to give RFA it's 3rd shutout in as many games. RFA is 4-3-3 overall heading into the season finale Thursday against Cicero-North Syracuse. - Coach Downs

10-17-08 - The RFA Girls Freshman soccer team defeated West Genesee by a score of 1-0 on Friday. Kayli Smith scored in the second half to put Rome in front. Jessica Gallagher made 5 saves in goal to record another shutout for RFA. The girls continute to play on Tuesday at home against Fayetteville-Manlius. - Coach Downs

10/15/08 - The RFA Girls Freshman soccer team played ES-M to a scoreless draw on Wednesday at Joy Elementary School. Lindsey Bartlett & Jessica Gallagher combined for the shut-out in goal. Next game is Friday at home against West Genesee. - Coach Downs

10-10-08 - The RFA Girls Freshman soccer team lost at Baldwinsville by a score of 3-2. After trailing 2-0 at the half, Kayli Smith and Alicia Wittman (assisted by Jordan General) scored to pull Rome even with the Bees. Baldwinsville regained the lead late in the 4th quarter, giving them the 3-2 victory. RFA returns home on Wednesday to play East Syracuse-Minoa. - Coach Downs

10-6-08 - On Monday, the RFA Girls Freshman soccer team was defeated at C-NS by a score of 1-0. Cicero-North Syracuse scored the game's only goal early in the 4th quarter. Lindsey B artlett and Jessica Gallagher provided impressive performances in goal for Rome. RFA will next travel to Baldwinsville on Friday. - Coach Downs

10-3-08 - The RFA Girls Freshman soccer team defeated F-M on Friday by a score of 6-4. A four -goal 3rd Quarter gave RFA the lead after they trailed 2-1 at the half. Jordan General scored four goals for Rome. Additionally, Kayli Smith & Alicia Wittman scored for Rome and Lindsey Bartlett added an assist. RFA travels to C-NS on Monday. - Coach Downs

9-30-08 - The RFA Girls Freshman soccer team beat West Genesee by a score of 2-1. RFA trailed 0-1 before Kayli Smith scored twice to put RFA ahead for good. Jordan General was credited with the assist on the first goal. Rome continues its travels to Fayetteville-Manlius on Friday. - Coach Downs

9-25-08 - On Thursday, the RFA Girls Freshman soccer team defeated ES-M by a score of 3-0. Jordan General, Alicia Wittman and Kayli Smith each tallied a goal and an assist for RFA. Jessica Gallagher and Lindsey Bartlett preserved the shutout in goal for Rome. RFA continues its road travels on Tuesday at West Genesee. - Coach Downs

On Monday, Sept. 22, the RFA Girls Freshman soccer team was defeated by Baldwinsville by a score of 4-0. RFA played strong in the second half after trailing 3-0 at the half. RFA travels to play East Syracuse-Minoa on Thursday. - Coach Downs

9-20-08 - On Saturday, the RFA Girls Freshman soccer team tied C-NS with a 0-0 score in their opening game of the season. Jessica Gallagher and Lindsey Bartlett combined for the shutout in goal. RFA continues with another home game @ Joy against Baldswinsville on Monday. - Coach Downs

10/16/08 - Modified was on the road for their last game of the season on Thursday against Oneida. The talented young Rome team was defeated by a close score of 3-1. The young Rome team has continued to show growth and improvement since the start of the season. Success is not measured by wins and losses, but how a team plays and improves. We know next year promises to be an amazing year for our modified girls. Scoring for Rome in the Oneida contest was Brooke Miller with the goal and Marisa Castro had the assist. Tiffany O'Connor had 13 saves in net. The Modified players will celebrate their end of the season with a Pizza Party at Strough on Wednesday.

10/14/08 - There was a lot of excitement on Tuesday, when Black Modified beat host V.V.S. by a score of 3-1. There was a lot of action from the offense and some great defensive plays in the game. Scoring for Rome were: Holly Hash (1-1), Brooke Miller (1-0), Gianna Pasqualetti (1-0), Alexia Gualtieri (0-1), Carly McCoy (0-1), Linda Martin (0-1) and Jossie Emmanuelle (0-1). Tiffany O'Connor had 6 saves in net. Modified's record is 2-8-1. They take to the road on Thursday for their last game of the season against host Oneida. Good Luck Little Lady Knights!!!

10-4-08 - Notre Dame came out ahead in Saturday's game against the young Rome Modified team by a score of 5-0. Tiffany O'Connor had 12 saves in net.

9/27/08 - Modified had a disappointing loss on Saturday to host Holland Patent, with HP winning 3-0. Tiffany O'Connor had 14 saves in net. Modified is looking to rally back in their Tuesday away rematch game against Donovan. Modified's record is 1-5.

9-25-08 - Modified had a 0-6 set-back in their Thursday afternoon game against host Clinton. Tiffany O'Connor had 13 saves in net and Brooke Miller had 3 saves. Modified's record is 1-4, next game is Saturday, 10:00 @ Stitville Elementary.

9-23-08 - Host JFK came out ahead in today's match-up against the visiting Little Lady Knights by a score of 5-1. Scoring for Rome was Holly Hash. Goalies were Tiffany O'Connor with 4 saves and Brooke Miller with 2 saves. Modified's record is 1-3, next game is Thursday @ Clinton.

9-20-08 - Modified's record dropped to 1-2 in Saturday's first official game of the 2008 season, with a 6-1 loss to the visiting Donovan team. 9/16/08 - The combined Black Modified team started their season on Tuesday with a win in their scrimmage against the visiting JFK team. Rome won the match by a score of 3-1.
